Description

The Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro Lens is a short-telephoto macro lens that is small in size, light weight and of good image quality. With a decent AF (autofocus), the lens boasts of high resolving power and sharp image depiction with ideal background blur, making it the ideal lens for close-up and portrait photography.

During focusing, the Tamron 90mm extends significantly to about 2" (50.8mm) at its 1:1 macro minimum focus distance setting. It has a manual focusing ring that is smooth and utilizes a focus ring push/pull motion to engage/disengage the AF clutch. It's speed is slow but very usable, good accuracy even in AI Servo mode, sound is an audible buzz and the focus ring does not turn during AF.

Tamron AF 90mm f/2.8 uses a dial for the focus limit switch. In the limit position, the Tamron 90 will autofocus between 11.4" and 15.75" (290mm and 400mm) or 17.7" (450mm) and infinity. The in-between distance is marked in white and visible in the focus window. Focus hunting can be dramatically reduced by using this feature. Of course, full range autofocus is available in the full setting.

Tamron AF 90mm f/2.8 has been re-designed to include a built-in motor to operate the auto focus system because some Nikon cameras do not provide mechanical linkage to the lens gearing for auto focus.

This is easily accomplished with Tamron’s ingenious AF/MF system. By simply sliding the focus ring back and forth between the two positions you can select either the AF or MF focusing position. In manual-focus mode Tamron lenses provide smooth, precise manual focusing by turning their wide, well-textured focusing rings.
